Amie Just: Nebraska's resiliency in clutch fifth set vs. Creighton offers hint of team's potential

Just looks ahead to rest of season after taking care of business

Nebraska volleyball coach John Cook said he was proud of the way his team responded in the fifth set against Creighton on Wednesday night.

The Huskers dropped the first two sets of the match but rallied to win the next three and take the match 3-2.

Cook said the team's resiliency was a key factor in the win.

"I thought we showed a lot of toughness and grit in that fifth set," Cook said. "We were down 8-6 and we could have easily folded, but we didn't. We kept fighting and we ended up winning the set."

The Huskers were led by senior outside hitter Amie Just, who had 22 kills and 13 digs. Just said she was proud of the way the team fought back after losing the first two sets.

"We knew we had to come out and play hard in the fifth set," Just said. "We didn't want to lose this match. We just kept fighting and we ended up winning."

Cook said he was also happy with the way the team played defensively in the fifth set.

"I thought our defense was really good in the fifth set," Cook said. "We were able to get a lot of digs and we were able to block some of their big hitters."

The Huskers will be back in action on Saturday when they host Michigan State. Cook said he is looking forward to seeing how the team responds after the win over Creighton.

"I think this win will give us a lot of confidence," Cook said. "We know we can beat anyone when we play our best. We just need to keep working hard and we need to continue to improve."
